After over 1,000 days at SICSA Pet Adoption and Wellness Center, one special dog has headed home for the holidays. Arriving at SICSA in 2021, Murray spent the majority of his life in the shelter system. While thousands of other pets were adopted during that time, Murray was overlooked time and time again. After 3 years of waiting, all of that changed this fall.
His new family fell in love with the goofy giant quickly upon meeting him. They first welcomed Murray into their home as a foster pet, but after seeing how quickly he meshed with their lifestyle and his foster “sister,” they knew he was meant to be a permanent member of their family. Now, just in time for the holidays, Murray has officially been adopted and will spend Christmas with a family of his own for the first time in his life!
“We are overwhelmed with joy to see Murray finally find the perfect home. After years of waiting, he will finally live the life he’s always deserved,” said SICSA CEO, Jack Omer. “SICSA is committed to doing all that we can to help our pets find homes, whether that’s behavioral training or medical support-or in Murray’s case, both. His adoption makes every moment of effort put into his care worthwhile.”
Murray is one of many large dogs that struggled to find a home for an extended period of time. This is a trend seen for shelter pets throughout the United States. Those interested in helping pets like Murray can do so by fostering larger dogs while they search for their new homes.
