On Saturday, October 8th, SICSA sent 25 pets home with loving new families at Wagner Subaru Adopt-ober Fest. During the event, all adoption fees were waived thanks to the support of Wagner Subaru. Adopters also had the opportunity to engrave their new pet’s tag onsite and take home some fun Subaru pet gear.
It was an especially exciting day for Poly, a unique cat with a triumphant story. When Poly arrived at SICSA her left rear leg was immobile. During her examination with SICSA Veterinarian Dr. Lloyd it was determined that she had an old femoral fracture with a malunion or mal-aligned healing. Unfortunately, this meant that amputation of the leg would be necessary. The very next day Poly’s leg was removed and her recovery began.
Poly adapted quickly, continuing to claim her favorite spots on the benches in her room. She was affectionate and welcoming of pets from anyone that came to sit with her. Throughout the rest of September, she was overlooked by adopters. Finally, Wagner Subaru Adopt-ober Fest came around, inviting in a swell of new adopters. This new audience put Poly in the path of her family, and before the event came to a close, she was officially adopted.
Thank you to Wagner Subaru for sponsoring Adopt-ober Fest and helping Poly find her new home. If you’re interested in adopting, check out all of our available pets here.
