Wellness Clinic

Our veterinary clinic is accepting new patients! Our team can provide examinations, vaccinations, diagnostic testing such as blood testing and x-rays, and manage most non-urgent conditions. All visits are by appointment only, so book your appointment for your pet today!

Please be advised that SICSA is unable to manage conditions that require hospitalization, emergency/urgent care, or advanced diagnostics and treatments. Examples of conditions that we are unable to manage include: diabetes, advanced kidney disease requiring hospitalization, surgical conditions that require intensive care hospitalization during the post- operative period, acute respiratory distress, orthopedic conditions that require surgery, and cancer chemotherapy.

Available Cat Services

Vaccinations

The FVRCP vaccine (Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, Panleukopenia) should be administered to all cats starting at 6 weeks of age. This vaccine is given to kittens every 3 to 4 weeks until they are at least 16 weeks old. Adults that have a record of having received this vaccination in the past should have this vaccine boosted every 1 to 3 years.

The FeLV (Feline Leukemia Virus) vaccine should be administered to all kittens starting at 8 weeks of age and to all cats that have access to the outdoors or live in a home with a cat carrying the FeLV virus. One booster is required 3 to 4 weeks after the initial vaccine. After the initial series of 2, all cats should receive a booster one year later. Thereafter, this vaccine should be given annually to cats that have access to the outdoors or live with a FeLV-positive cat. It is not necessary to vaccinate indoor-only cats if there are no FeLV-positive cats in the home. Please note that this vaccine should only be administered to cats that test negative for the FeLV virus.

Laboratory Testing

Feline leukemia virus (FeLV) and feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) are viruses that affect the immune system of cats. Cats contract these virus through contact with an infected cat. An infection predisposes cats to developing various immune problems and even some forms of cancer.

The FeLV /FIV test is a blood test that detects infection at the time of testing. This test is recommended for all cats newly coming into a household. This test is also required for any cat prior to receiving an initial or booster for an overdue FeLV vaccine.

Preventatives & Parasite Prevention

It is common for pets, especially the young and those that hunt or have access to the outdoors, to harbor intestinal parasites, including roundworms and tapeworms. In fact, they can have large numbers of parasites in their intestinal tract and yet not show any signs or shed any visible worms in their stool. We recommend regular deworming of your pet to keep them and your family healthy. We carry a variety of dewormers to treat and prevent several types of intestinal parasites. Our staff will recommend the appropriate products for your pet.

Other Services

The best way to be reunited with your pet if they get lost is through a microchip. A microchip provides your pet with a permanent identification that is then registered to you and your family. As long as your contact information is kept up-to-date, any shelter or veterinary clinic will be able to contact you and reunite you with your lost pet.

We offer a microchip service where we can implant and register the microchip for you.

The DHPP vaccine (Distemper, Adenovirus, Parainfluenza, and Parvovirus) should be administered to all dogs starting at 6 weeks of age. This vaccine is given to puppies every 3 to 4 weeks until they are at least 16 weeks old. Adults that have a record of having received this vaccination in the past should have this vaccine boosted every 1 to 3 years.

Bordetella is one of the infectious agents that cause the disease complex often called “kennel cough.” Despite the name, dogs can get kennel cough from more than just a kennel; they can get it from going to dog parks, day care, groomers, and even in some cases, just going out for walks in the neighborhood.

We recommend the Bordetella vaccine for dogs as young as 4 weeks of age. This vaccine is boosted annually.

Leptospirosis is a potentially devastating bacterial infection that affects several species, including dogs and humans. Dogs can be infected by exposure from infected wildlife or soil contaminated with urine from an infected animal. The disease is highly contagious, and is the most common disease that humans can get from animals.

The Leptospira vaccine should be given to dogs as an initial series of two vaccines given 3 to 4 weeks apart starting at 12 weeks of age. This vaccine is boosted annually thereafter.

Laboratory Testing

Heartworm disease is a serious, potentially life-threatening infection. Heartworms are carried by mosquitoes. This means your pet can be exposed to heartworms even if they do not go outside.

Based on the recommendations of the American Heartworm Society, we recommend that all dogs get an annual heartworm test beginning at 7 to 8 months of age. We require a current negative heartworm test prior to prescribing heartworm preventative for all dogs over 7 months of age.

Make An Appointment

Our calendar shows available appointments for the next 21 days from today's date. Click on the appropriate link below to schedule an appointment for your pet. Please note that scheduling requires a non-refundable deposit equivalent to the cost of the office visit at the time of booking.

If you need to reschedule, you may reschedule your appointment up to 72 hours of your appointment with no reschedule fee. All appointments rescheduled with less than 72 hours’ notice will be charged a non-refundable $15 reschedule fee. All no-call/no-show appointments will have the full office visit fee charged to the pet owner’s account.

Please note that SICSA is not able to provide refunds for scheduling deposits.
