Spring 2025 Update – The babies are here!
Spring has officially sprung and that can only mean one thing at SICSA: Kitten and puppy season is here! They say it takes a village to raise a child – the same is true of baby animals, too. With over 175 kittens and puppies currently in our care (plus more on the way), we’re going to need help from a lot of villages!
If you ever need an example of the power of collective action, just look at Pumpkin. Pumpkin came in as an urgent intake request earlier this kitten season. He was 13 weeks old and only weighed 0.5 pounds – that’s less than a typical 4-week-old kitten. Individuals from our Intake, Animal Care, Foster, and Veterinary teams immediately dropped what they were doing to set Pumpkin up in a warm, safe space. Based on his severe malnourishment and lethargic demeanor, we weren’t sure if Pumpkin was going to make it through the night, but we still wanted to do everything possible to help him prove us wrong . . . and that’s exactly what he did! After a month in foster care, Pumpkin came back to SICSA a brand-new man. He weighed in at 2.3 pounds, made it through his neuter surgery, and was adopted the day he became available!
Pumpkin is living proof that miracles happen when a small group of people unite around a shared mission. Thanks to compassionate individuals like you, we’re able to step in for the most vulnerable—just like Pumpkin—because at SICSA, we believe every life, no matter how small, is worth fighting for. Whether you choose to foster, volunteer, or donate, your involvement makes a lifesaving difference for the cats and dogs in our community. On behalf of our pets (and the people who love them), thank you for supporting SICSA Pet Adoption and Wellness Center!
