Our Parent-Youth Partner Program (PYPer) for children ages 8-13 teaches the importance of treating animals humanely and will prepare them for the responsibility of owning a pet, while allowing them to work side-by-side with a parent or guardian.

SICSA Student Intern Program
The student intern application process is CLOSED. No applications will be accepted after the deadline. SICSA will hold a mandatory training session on Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 9:00 am to noon. Training is an essential part of being a successful volunteer at SICSA and applicants are required to attend. Applicants who cannot attend the training are encouraged to wait to apply to the program in February when the application process opens again.
SICSA Student Intern Program
The SICSA Student Intern Program is an opportunity for high school students to volunteer at SICSA and gain experience working with an animal welfare organization. The program allows students to volunteer at SICSA working with the animals, helping with cleaning, and participating in SICSA events. Students can craft their own schedule which allows for flexibility when signing up for volunteer shifts.
What do Student Interns do?
Student Interns at SICSA assist in the daily operation of the shelter by volunteering for a variety of tasks. These tasks include laundry/dishes, dog and cat kennel cleaning, dog walking and cat enrichment. Student Interns may also be able to volunteer for select SICSA events.
How can I apply to be a Student Intern at SICSA?
Students wishing to apply to be a part of the Student Intern Program must complete the application and student intern waiver before the deadline. Students will be invited to participate in an in-person interview at SICSA. Selected students will be invited to attend orientation with parents/guardians and will receive comprehensive training before volunteering.
Applications will not be accepted after the deadline. Students are responsible for meeting all deadlines and responding to required email correspondence in a timely manner according to the established deadlines. Failure to meet requirements will result in elimination from consideration.
